A Few Words from Soft Blue Shimmer about Heaven Inches Away

Gossamer light and romantically fleeting, warm and familiarly inviting, like a recurring dream you welcome back into your head whenever you can – Heaven Inches Away is the freshman full length from Los Angeles, CA dreamers Soft Blue Shimmer. It’s a short and sweet nine track LP that will please passive alternative rock fans and the most stern of shoegazing loyalists alike. Lyrically unpretentious, but poignant, undeniably pleasant, and open to interpretation — the half hour of bliss follows in wake of the band’s 2020 debut Nothing Happens Here EP like a fantasy, building an entire universe of emotion in the span of mere minutes.

Looking back today from Heaven Inches Away’s first anniversary, it is apparent that the young band has already found the secret formula. The record marks the trio’s second release written with their core lineup of Kenzo Cardenas, Meredith Ramond, and Charlie Crowley, engineered by Corey Coffman, and released through independent labels Disposable America and Galaxy Train.

Wormbrain World had the chance to ask Soft Blue Shimmer’s collective wit to say a few words about the record, each of the songs on it, and the record labels that helped them to share it with the world. Here is what they said:
